Towards a common migration strategy for museums
Smaro Skoulikidis
Migration:Cities Workshop in June the 2nd 2018, Historical Museum Frankfurt. Smaro Skoulikidis has over 27 years’ experience with the United Nations, formulating and managing large scale humanitarian, post-conflict, recovery and development programmes. She has worked with a number of UN organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme, the World Food Programme, as well as Peacekeeping Missions, and is currently the Director of the Office of the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in the Peacekeeping Mission (MONUSCO) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She also has a Diploma in Museum Studies from the Reinwardt Academie in the Netherlands and has been an advisor to the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur, Liberia and the DRC.

After studying Bachelor in Classical Archaeology in Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, Istanbul, I attended archaeological excavations such as Smyrna and Pergamon. I studied at the University of Bonn as an Erasmus exchange student. I finished my Master's at the University of Maastricht in Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management and Education. I did my internship in Museum Rotterdam and wrote my masters thesis about the museum's community practice Authentic Rotterdam Heritage.
